Prolotherapy + Prolozone® Joint Injections

One combined treatment. We always use prolotherapy (dextrose) and Prolozone® (medical ozone) together. Depending on your joint and assessment findings, injections may be placed around the joint, inside the joint, or both.

Educational information. Plans are individualized and based on assessment.

What Is This Treatment?

This service combines two injection components in the same visit: dextrose (medical sugar) and medical ozone (a form of oxygen). We combine them because joint pain often involves both the supporting tissues around a joint and the joint space itself.

Where the injections can go

  • Around the joint (supporting tissues like ligaments, the joint capsule, and tendon attachments)
  • Inside the joint (the joint space)
  • Or a combination of both

What We Inject

Dextrose (Prolotherapy)

Dextrose is a medical sugar solution. In simple terms, it helps “wake up” the area and encourages the body to focus on repair and strengthening where it’s needed.

Medical Ozone (Prolozone®)

Medical ozone is a carefully prepared form of oxygen. It helps create a healthier environment for healing by improving oxygen use and calming ongoing joint irritation.

How Each Part Helps (Plain Language)

Dextrose helps with support

  • Supports ligaments and connective tissue
  • Helps improve joint stability
  • Helps joints handle movement and activity better over time

Ozone helps with the healing environment

  • Helps reduce stiffness and irritation
  • Supports healing in tendons, ligaments, and joint tissues
  • Helps improve comfort and ease of movement

Ozone does not replace cartilage or connective tissue, but it can support the body’s natural healing processes.

Joints and Conditions Studied in Research

Clinical research on prolotherapy and ozone-based injections has shown improvements most commonly in pain, stiffness, and function. Individual results vary.
